Zepbound
What You Need To Know About Zepbound - Weightloss Injectible
Zepbound (tirzpatide), previously known as Mounjaro, was recently FDA-approved as a weight loss treatment. Currently, this injectible holds the potential to redefine the landscape of weight management, offering new hope for individuals grappling with chronic weight issues. Doctors recommend that a calorie-deficit diet and physical activity should accompany treatment. This drug is recommended for adults dealing with Obesity (BMI of 30 or greater) and those with weight-related medical problems.
The Surmount trials, a study that included 2,539 adults with obesity and weight-related medical problems (excluding diabetes), tested the drug for weight loss and formed the basis for the approval. Accompanied by diet and exercise, the adults participating in the trial experienced substantial weight loss compared to those who took the placebo around the 72-week mark.
Medical Uses
Developed by Eli Lilly, this innovative medication is currently the first and only of its kind. It has a unique mechanism of action that combines the benefits of two hormones—GLP-1 and GIP. These hormones play crucial roles in glucose and insulin regulation in the body. Studies have shown that the combination of these two hormones regulates appetite and lowers blood sugar to help promote weight loss. According to the 72-week study, The results showed that people who took tirzepatide lost more weight compared to those who took a placebo (a fake medicine). The higher the dose of tirzepatide, the more weight people lose. Participants who took the highest dose (15 mg) lost, on average, 48 pounds. Meanwhile, participants who took the placebo lost an average of 7 pounds.
